A man who was killed in a stabbing in leominster this week was identified as 20-yearold Robert Day, Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s office said Wednesday.

The stabbing was reported outside the Riverside Village apartment complex on State Street shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, Early’s office said. Day, of leominster, was found suffering a stab wound and was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the district attorney’s office said.

Day’s death is under investigation by leominster police and State Police detectives assigned to Early’s office, officials said. Officials asked that anyone with information or video of the stabbing call leominster police at 978-534-7560.

No further information was immediately released. No arrests have been reported.

Day’s aunt, cammie Rivera, has organized an online fundraiser to help the family with funeral expenses. The page had received nearly $11,000 as of Thursday morning.

“We are processing the unexpected passing of a vibrant 20-year-old young man just beginning his life,” Day’s family said in a statement on the GofundMe page.

“Robert was taken from us unexpectedly this morning at the hands of another. No family should have to endure so much pain as a result of such an unexpected tragedy.”

The stabbing is the second death to come under investigation in leominster in less than a week. On May 2, Jami Parker, 28, a sergeant in the Massachusetts National Guard, was ordered held without bail after she allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend during an argument in her leominster home.
