Crash leaves 1 dead, 2 injured.
A Boyertown man died after losing control of his vehicle, striking a guardrail and then crashing into another vehicle.
Police said that at around 8:50 p.m. Nov. 22, Robert J. Neubauer, 52, of Boyertown had been travelling eastbound in a Geo Prizm on Route 73 (West Philadelphia Avenue) when the accident occurred.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Neubauer had lost control of his vehicle just before a bend in the road, causing him to strike the south side guardrail and travel into another lane.
His vehicle then collided with a Honda CRV driven by Karen Eachus, 59. Eachus’ daughter, Rebekah Mays, 31, of Evington Va., was a passenger at the time of the crash, police said.
Neubauer was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
Mays and Eachus were transported from the scene to Reading Hospital by Boyertown and Bally ambulances for further evaluation. Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
Emergency responders shut down Route 73 for several hours.
Boyertown Police, Eastern Berks Regional Fire Company, Boyertown Ambulance, Bally Ambulance, The Berks County Coroner’s Office and the Berks County Crash Reconstruction Team assisted authorities on the scene.
