Boyertown wrestling, Tommy Killoran earn silver
Another historic Boyertown wrestling season was capped by stellar performances in the annual PIAA Championships. The Bears, headed by its ‘Fab Five’ of returning state qualifiers, Jordan Wood, Tommy Killoran, Gregg Harvey, Lucas Miller and Jakob Campbell, took a step forward at the PIAA Team Championships and placed second in Class AAA behind only powerhouse Bethlehem Catholic. A month later at the individual championships, the Bears sent nine qualifiers – the aforementioned five (save for Wood, who was unable to compete due to injury), plus JT Cooley, David Campbell, Elijah Jones, Garrett Mauger and Matt Wilde. Heavyweight Killoran blazed through the PIAA Championships’ 285-pound bracket before eventually succumbing to Liberty’s Andrew Gunning, 2-1, in the title match. Killoran headlined three Boyertown medalists, joined in podium finishes by Harvey (fifth at 182) and Jakob Campbell (seventh at 113).
