Oley Turnpike Road Bridge Project scheduled to begin in Exeter
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work is scheduled to begin March 20 to repair the Oley Turnpike Road Bridge over Monocacy Creek in Exeter Township, Berks County.
Starting today Oley Turnpike Road will be closed and detoured between Limekiln Road and Limekiln Road, and will remain closed for the duration of the project. The posted detour will utilize Oley Turnpike Road to PA 562 to Limekiln Road.. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution traveling through the area.
This work is part of a $6,827,834 project to repair 15 structures in Berks County. J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen Pa, is the general contractor. All work is scheduled to be complete in May 2017. All schedules are subject to change.
The Oley Turnpike Road Bridge is a concrete Tbeam bridge originally constructed in 1963. It is 34 feet long and 43 feet wide. This section of Oley Turnpike Road has an average daily traffic volume of 1,833 vehicles.
