Oley Turnpike Road Bridge reopens in Exeter Township
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today repair work is complete on the Oley Turnpike Road Bridge over Monocacy Creek in Exeter Township, Berks County.
Since March 20, Oley Turnpike Road was closed and detoured between Limekiln Road and Limekiln Road, and the bridge is now open. During the closure traffic was detoured on PA 562 and Limekiln Road.
Crews repaired the bridge deck, beams, substructure, bearings, joints, and performed other miscellaneous repairs.
This work was part of a $6,827,834 project to repair 15 structures in Berks County. J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen Pa, is the general contractor.
The Oley Turnpike Road Bridge is a concrete Tbeam bridge originally constructed in 1963. It is 34 feet long and 43 feet wide. This section of Oley Turnpike Road has an average daily traffic volume of 1,833 vehicles.
