Woman recognized for commitment to home health care
Rebecca Patzek, RN, BSN, grew up with her mother working at BAYADA and started working there herself as a teenager. She was always interested in a career path as a nurse, but didn’t have her a-ha moment until she was already a new RN. Her grandmother became terminally ill, and Patzek became one of her primary caregivers. Everything clicked, and everything she’d learned came together as she took care of my grandma and comforted her and the rest of the family through the end-of-life process. It was then that Patzek knew hospice care was her calling.
After realizing her passion for hospice care, Patzek started with BAYADA as a clinical liaison. She was able to provide patient care but also have a hand in the operational side of the business—like community education, marketing, and office collaborations. Now, Patzek provides clinical divisional support for all four hospice offices in Pennsylvania.
Patzek is very close to earning her MBA degree, and hopes to pursue an MSN in health care administration after.
“There was a time I took per diem work as an HHA for another agency,” said Patzek. “It was fine, but it wasn’t BAYADA. I know now that I could never work for another home health care company. It’s about doing the right thing and providing the highest quality, excellent care. BAYADA does it right.”
Patzek is one of four BAYADA employees recognized for their passion to the calling of home health care and their patients during November’s Home Care & Hospice Month.
