Area man killed in quarry accident
ROBESON TWP. » A Boyertown area man was killed early Thursday morning, Aug. 23, in an industrial accident at a quarry near Birdsboro.
The Berks County Coroner’s office identified the victim as 29-year-old Brent Cosner from Colebrookdale Township.
According to reports, authorities were called to the scene shortly before midnight Wednesday, Aug. 22, after Cosner became stuck in a piece of machinery at the H&K Quarry, owned by Birdsboro Materials, at 1267 Haycreek Road.
The worker reportedly became trapped in a conveyer belt about 50 feet off the ground. He died before rescue workers could reach him.
Authorities did not give an exact cause of death but said an autopsy was scheduled to be performed.
