Shepherd of the Hills Church 527 HOFFMANSVI­LLE ROAD, BECHTELSVI­LLE

The Montco-Berks Golden Age Club will meet at Shepherd of the Hills on Sept. 6, 2 p.m. The program will be “Music by Michael Kropp.”

The Prime Timers will travel to the American Music Theatre and Shady Maple on Sept. 11.

The fall season of Youth Club will begin at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Boy Scouts meet Monday at 7 p.m. Cub Scouts meet Thursday at 7 p.m. AA groups meet at the church on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. Al Anon meets in the church on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

Sept. 9- Rally Sunday. Return to regular Sunday morning schedule with worship services at 7:45 & 10am, and a special Sunday School hour beginning at 8:30am, with a service project benefiting Opportunit­y House in Reading.

Sept. 16- Pentecost 17, Worship at 7:45 & 10am, Blessing of Animals at 10am; Regular Sunday School classes resume with opening in nave at 8:45am.

Junior (6pm) and Senior (7:30pm) Choirs will resume rehearsals on Sept. 5. Bethlehem Choir will resume Oct. 3, 4:15- 4:50pm.

Rally Sunday event for all ages on Sept. 9 begins at 8:30am in the nave.

Regular Sunday School classes resume on Sept. 16, with opening in nave at 8:45am.

Sunday Worship Services are 10:15 a.m., Sunday School 9 a.m., Contempora­ry Worship Service 8 a.m., the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Sept. 9 is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost and is Rally Day. At the 10:15 Worship Service, the Worship Assistants will be Greeters: Heidi Yescavage & Betty Moore, Ushers: Randy Kehl, Oscar & Angie Smith, Kay McGowan, Lector: Bill Brensinger, Nursery: Heidi Yescavage.

Non-perishable items will be collected for MultiServi­ce during the month of September. See bulletin insert for current list of priority needs. As we celebrate Harvest Home on Sept. 16, let us share nature’s bounty with those who are less fortunate.

Boy Scout Troop 511 will sponsor Hoagie Sales September through May. The sales will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Orders will have to be placed on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. There is ham, turkey, Italian or cheese—lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, Italian or mayo packets. Volunteers are also needed to help make the hoagies. To volunteer and to order as a new person, see Kitty Isett. Pick up will be at the old store every month. Thank you to those who have ordered hoagies in the past years.

Our annual Basket Party is Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. To purchase tickets, see LaRue Sheetz or Mardell Blanford.

Our Chicken Pot Pie Dinner is Oct. 6, 3 to 7 p.m., includes apple sauce, corn, pepper cabbage, rolls & butter, apple crisp with ice cream. Take out orders available until 6:45 p.m., call 610-369-1281.

Trinity will be participat­ing in the Boyertown Area CROP Walk on Oct. 7, 2 p.m., at the Center at Spring Street. The CROP Walk is a community event that raises money to fight hunger both here in Boyertown and around the world. To participat­e, talk to Pastor Gene or Kathy Farrington.

The annual Craft Show will be Oct. 20. We will have a used book sale, please donate books. A Craft Show Planning Meeting will be Sept. 9, following worship. Anyone who would like to participat­e with the Craft Show please make plans to attend. Any questions, see Cathy Yoder.

Worship with us on the 16th Sunday after Pentecost on Sept. 9, at our regular worship service times of 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. Bridge Pastor; Pastor David Penman will be leading the congregati­on in the worship service, preaching the morning sermon, as well as presenting the Children’s Sermon. During the services, we will bless the Prayer Shawls as well as the Quilts that were made by members. Those ministerin­g at the 7:45 a.m. service are Acolyte; OPEN, Lector; OPEN, and Greeters/Ushers; Roxanne and Butch Fox. Those ministerin­g at the 10:15 a.m. service are Acolyte; Dylan Drury, Lector; Diane Houck, and Greeters/ Ushers; Bruce Houck and Mike Appold.

The church office will be open on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. Later that evening, the Property Committee will meet in room B downstairs of the church. On Sept. 11, the October Niantic News newsletter articles are due into the church office. The Finance committee will meet on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. for their meeting. The Bell Choir will rehearse on Sept. 12 at 6:45 p.m. followed by the Senior Choir rehearsing at 7:45 p.m.

Blessing of the Pets will be Sept. 23 at 2 pm. We desire to open this time of blessing pets to the surroundin­g community and also to invite our neighbors to enjoy our walking path with their pets. As in the past, we will hold a collection for the Animal Rescue League of Berks County and offer treats available for the animals who are present. We hope to be able to offer blessings to dogs, cats, rabbits, lizards, birds, and whatever other pets God brings to our time of gathering.

St. Luke Lutheran Church 35 WILSON AVE., GILBERTSVI­LLE

Our 8:30 a.m. Bible Study will resume this Sunday. We will meet to explore the lectionary readings of the day.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for worship. This is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost.

Communion will be celebrated, as we do every Sunday. This is “Rally with the Responders Day!” Come and worship as we give thanks to God for their dedication and service to our community, and offer a blessing upon the vocation of our first responders.

Worship will be held outdoors, in the pavilion. A picnic lunch, including Bingo with the first responders, will be held following worship.

The Youth Choir will meet Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Worship and Music Committee will meet at 7 p.m.

The Community Clothing Rack will be open on Wednesday for clothing distributi­on. We now return to our fall schedule being open from 1-4 p.m.

Handbell Choir rehearsals will resume on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The Sr. Choir will rehearse Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Congregati­on Council will meet Thursday at 6:45 p.m. The Community Clothing Rack will be open from 6-8 p.m.
