Local author donates to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

The Boyertown Area Times - - LOCAL NEWS - From Danelle Matlack

Recently local children’s author Danelle Matlack visited Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in Bala Cynwyd to make a monetary donation and provide ALSF with a supply of her most recent book, “Suzie Sunshine: The Adventures of a Sweet & Sassy Ladybug.” ALSF will gift the signed copies to their childhood cancer heroes.

Matlack’s most recent book “Suzie Sunshine: The Adventures of a Sweet & Sassy Ladybug” tells the story of the unlikely friendship between Suzie, a sweet and sassy, lemonade loving ladybug who is seeking adventure, and Ella, a friendly young girl from Philadelphia. This story encourages young readers to have confidence and try new things. It demonstrates how unlikely friendships often lead to the best adventures. A portion of this book’s proceeds are being donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.

In speaking of being a published author, Matlack, said, “I’m very thankful for the continuing support. My first published book “Alfie the Allergic Alligator Goes to School” helps children with food allergies feel accepted within their school communities. I feel privileged to be able to visit schools and educate youth about this growing health concern that 1 in 13 children currently face. With my second book “Suzie Sunshine: The Adventures of a Sweet & Sassy Ladybug” I decided to partner with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and donate a portion of book proceeds to the cause. Being that one of the main character’s favorite drinks is lemonade I felt the partnership would work by raising awareness and funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation!”.
