St. Luke Lutheran Church

Our 8:30 a.m. Bi­ble Study will be held Sun­day. We will meet to ex­plore the lec­tionary read­ings of the day. Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sun­day for wor­ship. This is the 20th Sun­day af­ter Pen­te­cost. Com­mu­nion will be cel­e­brated. The Sr. Choir will sing, “Lord, We Are Your Peo­ple,” by Pat­ter­son.

On Sun­day there will be a special Bless­ing of the An­i­mals. Pic­tures of mem­bers’ pets will be fea­tured in a special slideshow pre­sen­ta­tion. Chil­dren are in­vited to bring their stuffed an­i­mals for a special bless­ing.

JAM (Je­sus and Me) class – chil­dren will sit with their par­ents un­til Time for the Chil­dren. At that point, they will go to JAM class, where they are in­vited to ex­pe­ri­ence the Bi­ble through a fun and imag­i­na­tive cur­ricu­lum.

Fol­low­ing wor­ship, there will be an Adult Fo­rum ex­plor­ing Pre­sid­ing Bishop Eaton’s four Em­phases on Church, led by Pas­tor Sief ke.

On Mon­day, the Church Of­fice will be closed in ob­ser­vance of Colum­bus Day.

Tues­day is the blood drive from 2-7 p.m.

The Youth Choir will meet Tues­day night at 6:30 p.m.

The Com­mu­nity Cloth­ing Rack will be open on Wed­nes­day for cloth­ing do­na­tion. We now re­turn to our fall sched­ule be­ing open from 1-4 p.m.

Hand­bell Choir will re­hearse on Wed­nes­day at 6:30 p.m. The Sr. Choir will re­hearse Wed­nes­day at 7:30 p.m.

Con­gre­ga­tion Coun­cil will meet Thurs­day at 6:45 p.m. The Com­mu­nity Cloth­ing Rack will be open for dis­tri­bu­tion from 6-8 p.m.

Trin­ity will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Boyertown Area CROP Walk on Oct. 7, 2 p.m., at the Cen­ter at Spring Street. The CROP Walk is a com­mu­nity event that raises money to fight hunger both here in Boyertown and around the world. If you’d like to par­tic­i­pate, please talk to Pas­tor Gene or Kathy Far­ring­ton.

Op­er­a­tion Christ­mas Child: Once again, we will be col­lect­ing “filled shoe boxes” for chil­dren, as a Christ­mas Project. Gift sug­ges­tions: School sup­plies, small toys, hy­giene items, other items (t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sun­glasses, hair clips, etc. If you need a shoe box or have any ques­tions, please see Kathy Kuser. Please re­turn filled boxes by Nov. 11.

The an­nual Craft Show will be Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have a book sign­ing by Wil­lard Car­pen­ter. Also this year, The TLC Stitch­ers are hav­ing a Silent Auc­tion on not one but two beau­ti­ful quilts. Our Book Sale will again be in the Nurs­ery, any do­na­tions of gen­tly used books for this sale will be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated. There will be a few new crafters this year, so come on out and see their crafts. Call­ing all Bak­ers for this years’ Bake Sale, any do­na­tions of break­fast cakes, pies, cook­ies, cakes, etc. will be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated. Posters are avail­able for the show. Please take one or two and dis­play it where you fre­quent. Lawn Signs are avail­able, please place them at your home or busi­ness. Vol­un­teers are needed to set up the Parish Hall for the show, sup­ply lunch, and re­set­ting for church af­ter­wards. Any ques­tions, please see Cathy Yoder.

Boy Scout Troop 511 will spon­sor Hoagie Sales on the 3rd Tues­day of the month. Place orders on the 2nd Tues­day. To vol­un­teer and to or­der as a new per­son, con­tact Kitty Isett. Pick up will be at the old store ev­ery month. Thank you to those who have or­dered hoa­gies in the past years.

The Novem­ber Niantic News news­let­ter ar­ti­cles are due into the church of­fice by Oct. 9. At 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, the Fi­nance com­mit­tee will meet in room B down­stairs in the church base­ment. The Bell Choir will re­hearse on Oct. 10 be­gin­ning at 6:45 p.m. fol­lowed by the Se­nior Choir re­hears­ing at 7:45 p.m. The church of­fice will be open on Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Cal­vary UCC

1231 Route 100, Barto All are wel­come to join us for 10:15 am World Com­mu­nion Wor­ship on Oct. 7 led by Pas­tor Linda. Com­mu­nion will be of­fered by Intinc­tion with breads from around the world. That af­ter­noon we will be walk­ing in the CROP WALK start­ing at 2 pm.

Our an­nual Pork and Kraut Din­ner will take place on Oct. 13 from 3-6 pm.

Faith For­ma­tion for all ages takes place at 9 am Sun­day morn­ings. Chil­dren will meet in the Sun­day School wing and adults will meet in the Fel­low­ship hall. All are in­vited to join us!
