Bears boys soccer earns playoff spot

BOYERTOWN 3, NORRISTOWN 0>> The game was called a few minutes into the second half due to field conditions, but not before the Bears did enough scoring to come away with the Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division victory and a league playoff berth.

Colin Brisbois had a goal and two assists to lead the way for Boyertown. Matt Kerr and Matt Selders added tallies to the Bears’ total.

By finishing 8-4-1 in league play, Boyertown (105-2) earned the second wild card for next Tuesday’s PAC Final Four. The Bears will face top seed and Liberty Division champion SpringFord, 7 p.m. at Owen J. Roberts. The Bears earned the playoff spot over Phoenixvil­le via a tiebreaker (District 1 power points, 9.4857.845). BOYERTOWN 2, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 0 >> Goals by Ryan Burkhardt and Colin Brisbois fueled the Bears’ shutout of the Vikings in PAC Liberty Division play.

Chris Davis and Gavin McCloskey were credited with assists on the Boyertown goals. Mason Kurtz made six saves in goal to secure the clean sheet.

BOYERTOWN 1, SOUDERTON 0

>> Colin Brisbois scored the game’s lone goal on a feed from Matt Kerr to lift the Bears to a non-conference win over the Indians.

Mason Kurtz posted the shutout in goal as Boyertown outshot Souderton 8-3. BOYERTOWN 3, METHACTON1>> It took 13 days, but the Boyertown boys soccer team finally defeated Methacton.

In a game that began Sept. 26 but was postponed due to lightning, the Bears got goals from Colin Brisbois, Nick Willson and Chris Davis for a 3-1 victory in Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division play Monday afternoon.

Dimitrije Randjelovi­c and Jacob Groff were credited with assists as the Bears improved to 3-4-1 in the Liberty, 6-4-1 PAC and 8-5-2 overall, staying in contention for a PAC playoff place

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2, BOYERTOWN 0 >> Nikki FollerMoll struck twice for the Vikings in a must-win over the Bears. PV improved to 7-3-1 in the PAC (8-5-1 overall) and is chasing a PAC wild card place.

Girls volleyball

BOYERTOWN 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 >> The Bears swept the Phantoms on Senior Night by set scores of 2514, 25-15 and 25-13.

Emily Wolfe had seven digs and six kills while Julia Smith posted 15 digs. Taylor Jones added 18 assists, eight aces, seven kills and five digs while Emma Ludwig had 15 assists, seven digs, 13 kills and six aces. BOYERTOWN 3, METHACTON 1>> The Bears booked their 10th straight win in a foursetter, 25-22, 26-24, 12-25, 25-20, on the Warriors’ Senior Night.

Boyertown leaders were Julia Smith 34 digs and 3 aces, Taylor Jones had 17 digs, 13 assist, 10 kills and 5 aces, Emily Wolfe with 10 kills, 13 digs and 4 blocks, Emma Ludwig added 19 assist, 15 digs and 10 kills. The Bears (11-2 PAC, 18-3) won the Liberty Division to qualify for the PAC Final Four, set for Tuesday at Spring-Ford. BOYERTOWN 3, POTTSGROVE

0>> The Bears cruised in straight sets, 25-3, 25-5 and 25-17. Leaders for the Bears were Emily Wolfe (4 aces, 4 kills and 2 blocks), Savannah Derstine (9 digs), Logan Black (6 digs, 2 kills), Allie Garris (9 digs and 2 assists) and Taylor Jones (6 digs, 6 assists and 14 aces). The Bears record is now 16-3 overall and 9-2 in league play.
