‘Be More Chill’ opens at the new Schumo Theater, Oct. 20
“Be More Chill” is an honest, edgy, and humorous look at growing up in the digital age, set to some of the most exciting songs in contemporary musical theater. This original musical comedy looks at modern issues like depression, bullying, anxiety and sexuality through the lens of sci-fi films of the ‘50s, horror flicks of the ‘80s, and teen movies of the ‘90s. The musical is already beloved by millions of theater fans because of its bestselling Billboard Top 10 cast recording.
The local production will be staged in the new Schumo Theater at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, 3000 Penn Avenue, West Lawn, from Oct. 20 to Oct. 28. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets, visit instituteof-arts.org.
“Be More Chill” is supported in part by the Berks County Community Foundation’s Diversity Alliance, Reading Music Foundation and PA Council on the Arts.
