Our 8:30 a.m. Bible Study will be held Sunday. We will meet to explore the lectionary readings of the day.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for worship. On Sunday we observe the first Sunday in Advent. The first candle in the Advent wreath will be lighted. The choir will sing, “A Litany for Advent,” arranged by McRae.

JAM (Jesus and Me) class participan­ts will sit with their families in church until after “Time for the Children.” Then, they will go to JAM Class, and return for a blessing or communion. Youth Choir will meet to rehearse after the service.

Following the service, an Advent Workshop will be held in Memorial Hall. Following a potluck lunch, we’ll learn the history and meanings of the Chrismons which decorate our huge tree which will be in the sanctuary for Christmas. Those at the workshop will make Chrismons for the tree, as well as to take home! There will also be a special Advent project for everyone.

Property Committee will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Worship and Music will meet at 7 p.m.

The Community Clothing Rack will be open Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. for clothing donations.

Handbell choir will rehearse Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and the Senior Choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

Executive Committee will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and Finance Committee at 7 p.m.

A congregati­onal meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9 immediatel­y following the 10:15 service. The purpose of the meeting will be to review, and consider for approval, a proposed budget for 2019, and also to elect new council members.

The Cantata “Rhapsody in Bluegrass” will be presented on Dec. 16 at the 10:15 a.m. worship service, followed by a Potluck Luncheon. Snow Date will be Dec. 30. A second presentati­on of the Cantata will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 30 followed by refreshmen­ts.

Longest Night “A Service of Healing”. The Holidays are fast approachin­g! However, the holidays can have people feeling depressed, lonely, stressed out and/or anxious for a variety of reasons. If you are experienci­ng a difficult time dealing with the upcoming holidays, for whatever reason, please consider joining us for a Worship service of healing on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. We invite you to this Service to be released from these feelings, to know that you are not alone and to help you put Joy & Light back in to your Holidays!

Please join us on Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of Christ. Christmas Eve Services this year will be held at 3 p.m. Afternoon Candleligh­t Service with Communion and 8 p.m. Evening Candleligh­t Service with Communion.

Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic

222 Niantic Road, Barto Worship with us on 1st Sunday of Advent on Dec. 2 at our ONE worship services at 9 a.m. Bridge Pastor, Pr. David Penman, will be leading the congregati­on in a Holy Communion worship service, preach the morning sermon, as well as present the Children’s Sermon. During the service we will light the first Advent candle in preparatio­n of the coming of Christ. Confirmati­on will be held at 7:45 a.m. in room I. Sunday School for children will be held in room B and Sunday School for the Adults will be held in room H with both beginning at 10:15 a.m. Those ministerin­g at the 9 a.m. service are Acolyte; OPEN, Lector; Terry Flicker, Communion Assist: Roy Hoffman and Greeters/Ushers; Terry Flicker and Charlie Orner.

The Girl Scouts Troop #1994 will be hosting a Spaghetti Supper in the church’s social hall (353 Congo-Niantic Road) on Dec. 8 from 4 – 8 p.m.
