State po­lice at Read­ing an­nounce en­force­ment re­sults

The Penn­syl­va­nia State Po­lice Troop L of Read­ing an­nounced the of­fi­cial re­sults of the New Year’s Hol­i­day En­force­ment pe­riod.

The en­force­ment com­menced at mid­night on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 29, 2018 and con­cluded at mid­night on Tues­day, Jan­uary 1, 2019.

Troop­ers specif­i­cally fo­cused on ap­pre­hend­ing mo­torist who op­er­ated their mo­tor ve­hi­cle un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol or drugs. En­force­ment con­cen­trated on mov­ing vi­o­la­tions con­sist­ing of speed­ing, reck­less driv­ing, seat belt vi­o­la­tions and child seat belt in­frac­tions.

Dur­ing the New Year’s Hol­i­day Traf­fic En­force­ment Pe­riod of 2018 - 2019, Troop L, which re­sponds to in­ci­dents in Berks County, Lebanon County, and Schuylkill County, Troop­ers in­ves­ti­gated a to­tal of 41 crashes and made 29 DUI ar­rests.

Of those 41 crashes, three in­volved al­co­hol and two peo­ple were in­jured.

Ad­di­tion­ally, troop­ers wrote hun­dreds of other ci­ta­tions dur­ing the en­force­ment. Those ci­ta­tions in­cluded 618 speed­ing ci­ta­tions, 11 child pas­sen­ger seat ci­ta­tions, 64 seat belt ci­ta­tions, six warn­ings for safety belt vi­o­la­tions and 538 other traf­fic ci­ta­tions.

The Penn­syl­va­nia State Po­lice at Read­ing will con­duct Easter Hol­i­day En­force­ment which will com­mence at mid­night on Fri­day, April 19, 2019 and con­clude at mid­night on Sun­day, April 21, 2019.
