State Police confiscate $66M worth of drug in 2018

The Pennsylvania State Police announced that troopers confiscated $16,982,054 worth of cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin, fentanyl, and other prohibited drugs in the fourth quarter of 2018.

From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, state police seized nearly 224 pounds of cocaine and 26 pounds of heroin. Troopers also confiscated almost 50 pounds of fentanyl. In its purest form, even a small amount of fentanyl can cause a severe and potentially deadly reaction, putting users, people close to them, and first responders at risk. The illegal opioids have a combined street value of $1,498,430.

In 2018, The Pennsylvania State Police removed over $66 million in prohibited drugs from the highways and communities of the commonwealth, including 197 pounds of heroin and fentanyl.

The Pennsylvania State Police remains an integral part of the Opioid Command Center, working to fight the heroin and opioid crisis as part of Governor Tom Wolf’s disaster declaration.

The following are total values and amounts seized by state police during the fourth quarter of 2018:

• 223.83 pounds of cocaine valued at $4,028,940

• 2.63 pounds of crack cocaine valued at $118,350

• 26.01 pounds of heroin valued at $702,270

• 49.76 pounds of fentanyl valued at $796,160

• 88 doses of LSD valued at $1,760

• 507.03 pints of marijuana THC liquid valued at $3,397,101

• 32.19 pounds of marijuana THC solids valued at $160,950

• 733 marijuana plants valued at $120,945

• 470 pounds of processed marijuana valued at $1,410,990

• 135.78 pounds of methamphetamine valued $5,431,200

• 2.20 pounds of MDMA Ecstasy valued at $75,000

• 278 pills of MDMA valued at $4,170

• 4.41 pounds of other narcotics valued at $10,143

• 2,8963 other pills valued at $724,075

The total value of all drugs seized during the fourth quarter amounted to $16,982,054.
