‘Sleepless in Seattle’ kicks off classic movies at State Theatre

-

“Sleepless In Seattle” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan will start the new Sunday afternoon matinee series of Classic Movies at the State Theatre.

Responding to the request to have the best of the Hollywood movies, the first selection will be on Sunday, March 24, at 3:30 p.m.

State Theatre Manager Shannon Anthony said, “In order to bring first-run movies to Boyertown, as we have done for our first year, we had to accept the movie selection our film agent was able to negotiate with the major film studios. The major film studios have focused on animated and action based movies. By having a Classic Movie program, we will be able to bring those movies considered the Best of Hollywood to our Boyertown Community.”

The Classic Movie program will continue the 4th Sunday of each month except for April.

Charles Haddad, State Theatre president, said, “The Classic Movie program is one part of our initiative for 2019 of The State Theatre More than Just Movies.”

The other initiatives for 2019 are live stage shows for children, special teen programs and community use for fundraisers or special programs.” Continuing, Haddad said, “The Classic Movie program will start with a one hour mixer of greet and meet with a cash bar and complimentary lite bites. The purpose of this hour is to give those attending a social hour to enjoy with their friends and neighbors of the Boyertown Area Community.”

The cost for the program is $10 with seating limited to 100. The four-part initiative for the State Theatre is supported by a grant from the Boyertown Area Charitable Giving Fund of the Berks County Community Foundation. Tickets are available at the box office or online at www.BoyertownStateTheatre.com.
