Bears boys basketball holds off Perkiomen Valley, 39-38

BOYERTOWN 39, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 38 >> The Bears held off the Vikings’ late charge Friday, getting by with a narrow victory in their PAC Liberty Division matchup.
Aarick Salata hit 7-of-8 free throws on the way to 15 for the night, and Chris Kiefer had eight points in helping Boyertown survive PV’s 27-21 second-half advantage. The Vikes got double-figure offense from Tyler Lapetina — his 16 markers bolstered by four three-point shots — and Kameron Parks with 11.
Girls basketball
BOYERTOWN 47, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 34 >> The Bears led wire-to-wire over the Vikings in Friday’s PAC Liberty Division game. Ashley Kapp had 18 points for Boyertown — 12 off shots from 3-point range — to go with four assists. PV was headed by Naiya Daisey, who collected nine of her 12 points from long distance.
Wrestling
PARKLAND DUALS >> Boyertown went 2-3 in Saturday’s duals competition. The Bears’ wins — they handled Central High 61-13 and doubled up host Parkland 44-22 — were bracketed by losses to Cumberland Valley (50-24), Hempfield (39-21) and Northampton (54-15).
Chance Babb had the best individual outing for Boyertown, going 5-0 with three pins.
Winter track
TFCAGP >> The Boyertown boys team continued to get improvements from various individuals during Saturday’s Track and Field Coaches Association of Greeater Philadelphia (TFCAGP) at Lehigh University.
The Bears compiled 19 personal records in 26 tries. Julian Saunders took the second place medal in the 200m dash with a time of 23.05 seconds — it qualified him for the Meet of Champions and states — Cameron Kratz went fourth place in the 3000m run with a time of 9:49.85, and the freshman/sophomore 4x200m relay team of Andrew Galanti, Ethan Martins, Noah Mitchell and Ayden Edwards finished 3rd out of 22 teams.
