Blowout wins for Bear boys basketball

BOYERTOWN 70, POTTSGROVE 45 >> The Bears hosted a PAC crossover matchup against Pottsgrove Tuesday and came away with victory.

The Bears’ biggest night came from Tre Diguglielm­o who had 19 points — five of them from 3-point range. Griffin Hummel added 12 points all on treys, while Mason Marinello had 10. Pottsgrove had two players score in double digits, Evan White with 16 and Luke Kaiser with 10.

BOYERTOWN 62, OWEN J. ROBERTS 26 >> The Bears rode balanced scoring to victory over the Wildcats in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division matchup.

Boyertown’s scoring was well spread out, with Tre Diguglielm­o leading them with 12 points, Mason Marinello had 8, Eddie Higgins and Aarick Salata with 7 each and Roman Marinello, Alex Obarow and Ryan Schaefer all add 6 apiece. The Wildcats were lead by Jalen Lucas with 17 points.

Girls basketball

POTTSGROVE 40, BOYERTOWN 22 >> Sydney Mowery and Rachel Ludwig combined to match the Bears’ total offensive output as the Falcons won Tuesday’s PAC divisional crossover game.

Mowery was the scoring leader with 12 points, two more than Ludwig’s 10. Pottsgrove’s defense also came up big, limiting Boyertown to 12 points after a 10-point first quarter.

Boys swimming

BOYERTOWN 95, UPPER MERION 75 >> Owen Miller and Nolan Benner combined to get the Bears six of their first-place finishes in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Miller won the 200 free (1:47.69) and 100 free (48.75), as did Benner in the 200 IM (2:01.44) and 100 fly (53.69). They also

swam legs of Boyertown’s winning 200 free (1:31.02) and 400 free (3:27.18) relays.

BOYERTOWN 96, POPE JOHN PAUL II 74 >> Justin Morris was a two-event winner for the Bears in Thursday’s PAC meet with the Golden Panthers.

Morris headed the 50 free (24.71) and 100 fly (59.18). PJP got an individual first from Hugh Trexler in the 100 back (1:34.05) and a win from the 400 free relay foursome of Bobby McCauley, Matt Brun, Owen Bator and Trexler (5:15.75).

Girls swimming

BOYERTOWN 93, UPPER MERION 72 >> Katherine Kummerer and Gabrielle McKee were two-event winners for the Bears in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Kummerer took the 200 free (2:07.00) and 100 free (58.31) while McKee led the 100 fly (1:00.08) and 100 back (1:00.28). McKee also swam legs on Boyertown’s winning 200 medley (1:56.66) and 200 free (1:40.06) relays.

BOYERTOWN 86, POPE JOHN PAUL II 65 >> Hannah Shaner’s two individual-event wins keyed the Bears’ PAC victory over the Golden Panthers Thursday.

Shaner’s firsts were in the 200 IM (2:20.79) and 100 free (58.05). Scoring firsts for PJP were Hillary Pope in the 100 back (1:24.40) and Maggie Sullivan in the 100 breast (1:23.37).

Wrestling

SPRING-FORD 62, BOYERTOWN 11 >> The Rams won 12 of 14 matches and rolled past the Bears in PAC Liberty action Wednesday.

Spring-Ford pins came from John Kaputa (285), Quinn Smith (120), Zach Needles (138), Alex Johns (145), Jack McGill (152), Jason Lepore (170), Joey Milano (182) and Gavin Hartman (195). Louis Carbajal (220), Quinn Tobin (132) and Xavier Cushman (SF) were major-decision winners.

Boyertown’s wins came from Jay Maldonado (tech fall at 113) and Chance Babb (pin at 126).
