Your onward and upward await at Bloomsburg University
While these are challenging times, Huskies are never afraid of the path ahead.
The roots of our resilient Husky spirit trace back to 1839 when a fearless visionary named Henry Carver founded Bloomsburg University. Never one to take the easy path forward, Carver sailed pirateplagued seas, taught coast to coast without the benefit of a transcontinental railroad and even lost one of his hands in a hunting accident.
Yet, through sheer will and determination, he founded BU on wisdom and work ethic believing that a world-class education should be available to anyone willing to work hard for it.
And we’re still committed to that vision today, in every single way.
Our students answer “you can’t” with “watch me.” They make more with what they have and face every challenge as a new way forward. At BU, we appreciate this tenacity — and unleash it.
We see hustle as business sense. Persistence as rigor. Grit as mental toughness. Heart as emotional intelligence, and work ethic as a prerequisite for success.
Because these in-demand traits are the hallmark of our pack, employers place a high value on a Bloom degree — and the person who earned it.
As a member of the Husky family, we’ll be there at every step of your climb, helping you create opportunity across five colleges and nearly 60 topranked, accredited programs.
We’ll work with you to chart your unique course to the top — a four-year academic plan, personalized career map or path to graduate school. Through hard work and hands-on learning, in the classroom and in the field, research and internships, our commitment to Professional U begins the day you do to turn your goals into achievements.
And you’re not alone. Our vast and dedicated alumni network is more than 76,000 strong and can be found in all 50 states and spanning the globe. Nobel prize winners, educators, doctors, nurses, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, business leaders, musicians, historians and other successful professionals all carrying on Carver’s legacy while making their mark and helping while making their mark and helping the next generation of Huskies do the same.
One such alumna is Comfort Nyesuah, a Philadelphia native who earned her B.S. in Health Sciences from Bloomsburg University in 2019.
“Bloomsburg not only taught me to be a leader but helped me grow in different aspects of my life, along with realizing there’s always room for improvement and further opportunities,” she said. “I’m different today then my first day as a freshman because not only have I grown mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally, but now I can finally say ‘I made it!’”
