Photography Workshop offers summer photography camps
Photography is a powerful medium for storytelling, self-expression, and communication, capturing life’s moments and broadening our understanding of the world.
The Photography Workshop offers summer photography camps for children ages 9-16 to fuel their passion for photography and help them develop their skills. With various camp options covering a wide range of photography genres, children will learn basic concepts and techniques, as well as how to work with different photographic situations.
The photography camps are designed to be a fun and nurturing environment where children can improve their skills, express their creativity, and make new friends with similar interests.
Camps are held at various locations, including
Longwood Gardens, Limerick Township, East Goshen Township Park, Downingtown/Chester Springs, Swarthmore College and a state-of-the-art studio in West Chester.
The 2023 camp schedule includes half-day on-location photography camps that run Monday through Friday for three hours per day. These camps feature fun exercises, topic-specific sessions and a gallery event to showcase the campers’ best images.
There are also several half-day and full-day camps at the new Photography Learning Center & Studio in West Chester, offering creative night photography, studio photography and special effects photography.
A week-long, full-day travel camp is also available, covering admission to all attractions. The travel camp includes a day of learning camera basics and exposure in the studio, followed by trips to various destinations like Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia Waterworks, Morey’s Amusement Park, Wildwood, Cape May, Elmwood Park Zoo, Valley Forge and Longwood Gardens.
These summer photography camps aim to teach real-world skills, allowing each child to develop their artistic style and vision. They also promote personal growth and teamwork, fostering a supportive environment for children to explore their creativity and expand their photographic abilities.
Camps are taught by professional award-winning photographers. In addition to offering summer camps, The Photography Workshop also offers a variety of classes and workshops for teens and adults throughout the year.
