Kutztown summer series kicks off with youth concerts

Kutztown High Select Choir performs May 15, Kutztown School District Jazz Bands perform May 17

2023 Kutztown Borough Concert Series in the Park kicks off with two concerts in support of Kutztown youth vocal and instrument­al students on May 15 and 17.

All concerts in the series will be held in the historic covered bandshell in the Kutztown Park and are free to the public.

The Kutztown Area High School Select Choir, under the direction of Cecily Ryan, will perform variety of songs on Monday, May 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Kutztown High School and Middle School Jazz Bands, under the direction of Dustin Shirk and Kutztown Elementary Jazz Band, under the direction of Kathy Mohler, will play a variety of songs on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The park concession stand, run by Saucony Café, will be open before and during the concert.

The Concert Series includes the following concerts for 2023:

June 3: The Ben Mauger Band from 7 to 9 p.m.

June 13: Flag Day Celebratio­n from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

June 17: The Mudflaps from 7 to 9 p.m.

June 24: The Cramer Brothers from 7 to 9 p.m.

July 5: Kutztown University Summer Music Festival from 7 to 9 p.m.

July 8: TimeWhys from 7 to 9 p.m.

July 15: Frog Holler from 7 to 9 p.m.

July 22: Swing Fever from 7 to 9 p.m.

July 29: The Fabulous Greaseband from 6 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 3: Kutztown School District Summer Band from 7 to 9 p.m.

Aug. 6: The Zeptones noon to 2 p.m. and Flamin’ Dick & The Hot Rods from 6 to 8 p.m. during Kutztown Day.

Aug. 12: The Dave Mell Band from 7 to 9 p.m.

Aug. 13: Kutztown Pipe Band & Kutztown Celtic Session from 4 to 6 p.m.

Aug. 19: The Ringgold Band from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sept. 16: Buccaneer Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps. from 6 to 8 p.m.

Free to the public, the Borough of Kutztown 2023 Concert Series in the Park will be held rain or shine in the covered Kutztown Park Bandshell. The concert series is made possible by the Borough of Kutztown and the support of the co-sponsors.
