Rap­tors: All-Star guard Kyle Lowry is side­lined with an un­spec­i­fied back in­jury. Lowry will miss Sat­ur­day night’s game against the Cleve­land Cava­liers af­ter his back flared up ear­lier in the day. Rap­tors coach Nick Nurse did not give any de­tails about Lowry’s in­jury or a timetable for when he might be back. Fred VanVleet started in place of Lowry, who started Toronto’s first 23 games. The Rap­tors en­ter rid­ing a seven-game win­ning streak and are a league-best 19-4. Bulls: In an un­ex­pected de­vel­op­ment, Lauri Markka­nen made his sea­son de­but Chicago on Sat­ur­day night against the Rock­ets. Markka­nen, who missed the first 23 games with a right el­bow in­jury suf­fered dur­ing the first week of train­ing camp, was on a min­utes re­stric­tion. He was on the court for four min­utes and hit a three­p­ointer, but the Bulls trailed the Rock­ets 38-22 go­ing into the sec­ond pe­riod.

“I feel good,” Markka­nen told the Chicago Tri­bune.
