Broken water pipe leads to Cardinal O’Hara closure today
Cardinal O’Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda will be closed today due to a water pipe that burst and flooded part of the school building.
The leak on the second floor was discovered Sunday morning, prior to the start of the school’s weekly bingo game.
High school officials hired a company to clean up the water, which flowed down walls and primarily caused damage on the first floor in a portion of the building, said the school’s principal, Mary Holzerland.
“Mostly it was in offices, which was I guess fortunate,” she said.
Holzerland said she expected the high school of about 280 students to be open again as usual Tuesday.
