AWARDS: The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services is seeking nominations for the Michael J. Dundon Service to Youth Award, the Mary T. Blakeslee Service to Youth Awards and the Character Coach Awards. Nominations are accepted through April 5 and nomination forms are avaliable online at www.hamburg-youth-rec-seniors.com or at the department office at the Hamburg Senior Community Center. Completed forms should be returned to the attention of Tim Jerome or emailed to [email protected]burgny. com. The awards banquet will be held at Michael’s Banquet Facility in Hamburg on May 7. Reservations will be accepted until May 1 at a cost of $30/person or $300/table.
BASEBALL: The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services is accepting registration for its Youth Baseball Skills Development program. The program is open to children aged 6-8 and will be held Thursday evenings from 7:55-8:15 p.m. beginning March 14 in the Donny Thiry Gym at the Hamburg Senior Community Center. Registration is $30 per child and can be done in person at the recreation office, via phone at 646-5145 or online at www.hamburg-youth-rec-seniors.com.
FOOTBALL: Defensive Coordinator for Morrisville State, Ed Raby and Offensive Assistant Garrett McLaughlin from Bates College, an Orchard Park and Syracuse graduate, will be the featured clinicians at the WNY Football Coaches’ meeting, Monday, March 11, 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway in Lancaster. GOLF: The Friends of the NY44 Health Benefits Plan, Inc. will host its 10th annual charity golf tournament on July 18 at the Chestnut Hill Country Club. This year’s event will be held in Memory of Dr. Darleen Michalak and proceeds will benefit Danceability! Registration is $100 per golfer. The 2019 West Seneca Rotary Buffalo Amputee Golf Classic will be held on Monday, July 15 at Lancaster Country Club. Tournament proceeds will send local children with limb loss to Camp No Limits and also award local scholarships to an amputee or child of an amputee. HOCKEY: The 44th annual Dippin’ Dots Spring Hockey League is accepting registrations for the upcoming spring/summer season at Holiday Twin Rinks and Leisure Rinks. The league is non-checking and is open to boys and girls of all skill levels aged 4-15. Play kicks off in April and openings in all divisions are avaliable. RUNNING: The Chautauqua Striders will host the 10th annual St. Patrick’s Dash on Saturday, March 16. The USATF-certified three-mile race begins at 9:15 a.m. and starts and finishes at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. Multiple male and female age groups will be offered with awards given to the top three male and female finshers in each class.
