Crystal Peoples-Stokes to keynote NAACP’s annual awards dinner
State Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes will be the keynote speaker as the Buffalo Branch NAACP holds its 53rd annual Medgar Evers Awards dinner at 6 p.m. June 8 in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Peoples-Stokes is the first woman and first African-American to serve as majority leader.
The dinner will include presentation of the organization’s Youth Award, Rufus Frasier Human Relations Award, Daniel R. Acker Community Service Award and the Medgar Evers Civil Rights Award. Branch leaders also will review efforts during the past year to further civil rights, voter registration, entrepreneurship, racial equity and health.
