Democrats, mi­nor par­ties file pe­ti­tions in city, county races

The ex­pected Demo­cratic pri­mary con­test for Buf­falo comp­trol­ler ma­te­ri­al­ized last week when two ad­di­tional can­di­dates filed des­ig­nat­ing pe­ti­tions. Board of Elec­tions records in­di­cate Scott J. Wil­son Jr. and Vanessa A. Glushef­ski will chal­lenge Bar­bara Miller-Wil­liams for the Demo­cratic nom­i­na­tion. Glushef­ski is acting comp­trol­ler fol­low­ing the res­ig­na­tion ear­lier this year of Mark J.F. Schroeder.

Also, the board re­ceived from at­tor­ney Peter A. Reese pe­ti­tions to com­pete in the Demo­cratic pri­mary for county ex­ec­u­tive against Mark C. Polon­carz. Other late fil­ings in­clude Demo­crat Es­ther Smoth­ers in the Com­mon Coun­cil’s Love­joy Dis­trict; Tani­qua Sim­mons as a Green can­di­date in Mas­ten; Abi Echevar­ria as an In­de­pen­dence can­di­date in North; and Dorothea Franklin as a Green in Uni­ver­sity.
