Will East, Clarence win Gentner softball titles
Last season Williamsville East and Williamsville South wound up tied for the ECIC II softball championship, with the Flames going on to fall to Iroquois in the Section VI final.
East and South met against Saturday in the championship of the Fort Myers Bracket in the “Just Show Up” Gerry Gentner Memorial tournament at Williamsville East. The tournament is played in memory of the late Williamsville South coach.
East triumphed over the Billies 12-0 in the bracket final after wins over
(7-1) and (7-0).
won the Cancun Bracket of the 16-team tournament, defeating defending ECIC I champion
11-8, in eight innings. The Red Devils triumphed over Amherst (10-0) and West Seneca East (7-2) on the way to the title game.
Sophomore Summer Clark, who pitched two of the three Williamsville East victories, was the Most Valuable Player of her bracket. Senior Cara Leone pitched the middle game of the three for the Flames.
Another sophomore, Julianne Bolton of Clarence was the MVP of the Cancun Bracket.

Stockmeyer rings up lots of Ks for Flyers’ softball
Marissa Stockmeyer of Maryvale struck out 17 Cheektowaga batters in the Flyers, 6-4, ECIC III softball victory over Cheektowaga on Friday. Earlier in the week, the senior pitcher allowed just two hits and struck out 18 in a 10-3 triumph at Pioneer.
Mt. St. Mary star Garlow hits 200-goal career mark
Lois Garlow of Mount St. Mary passed one milestone in the winter when she went over the 1,000-point mark for her basketball career.
Saturday, Garlow reached another plateau, when she scored her 200th career lacrosse goal in a 22-8 triumph over in Monsignor Martin Association play. She needed six goals Saturday to hit the 200 mark.
Garlow scored 95 goals and had 52 assists in 2018, her first season at Mount St. Mary after transferring from a school in Park City, Utah.
The senior star has signed with Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. to play lacrosse.
Cambria pitches Honors to Cornell Cup I victory
City Honors, which swept through last year’s Cornell Cup League I schedule with an 11-0 record, is off to a 2-0 start for the new campaign.
Winning pitcher Matt Cambria struck out seven betters and helped himself with two hits, including a triple, and an RBI on Saturday in a 4-3 victory over Ivory Parker drove in the winning run for the Centaurs. … Connor McKendry went 3 for 3 and Nick DiCarlo was 2 for 2 and each drove in a pair of runs for
