Will East, Clarence win Gent­ner softball ti­tles

Last sea­son Wil­liamsville East and Wil­liamsville South wound up tied for the ECIC II softball cham­pi­onship, with the Flames go­ing on to fall to Iro­quois in the Sec­tion VI fi­nal.

East and South met against Satur­day in the cham­pi­onship of the Fort My­ers Bracket in the “Just Show Up” Gerry Gent­ner Me­mo­rial tour­na­ment at Wil­liamsville East. The tour­na­ment is played in mem­ory of the late Wil­liamsville South coach.

East tri­umphed over the Bil­lies 12-0 in the bracket fi­nal after wins over

(7-1) and (7-0).

won the Cancun Bracket of the 16-team tour­na­ment, de­feat­ing de­fend­ing ECIC I cham­pion

11-8, in eight in­nings. The Red Devils tri­umphed over Amherst (10-0) and West Seneca East (7-2) on the way to the ti­tle game.

Sopho­more Sum­mer Clark, who pitched two of the three Wil­liamsville East vic­to­ries, was the Most Valu­able Player of her bracket. Se­nior Cara Leone pitched the mid­dle game of the three for the Flames.

An­other sopho­more, Ju­lianne Bolton of Clarence was the MVP of the Cancun Bracket.

Stock­meyer rings up lots of Ks for Flyers’ softball

Marissa Stock­meyer of Mary­vale struck out 17 Cheek­towaga bat­ters in the Flyers, 6-4, ECIC III softball vic­tory over Cheek­towaga on Fri­day. Ear­lier in the week, the se­nior pitcher al­lowed just two hits and struck out 18 in a 10-3 tri­umph at Pi­o­neer.

Mt. St. Mary star Gar­low hits 200-goal ca­reer mark

Lois Gar­low of Mount St. Mary passed one mile­stone in the win­ter when she went over the 1,000-point mark for her bas­ket­ball ca­reer.

Satur­day, Gar­low reached an­other plateau, when she scored her 200th ca­reer lacrosse goal in a 22-8 tri­umph over in Mon­signor Martin As­so­ci­a­tion play. She needed six goals Satur­day to hit the 200 mark.

Gar­low scored 95 goals and had 52 as­sists in 2018, her first sea­son at Mount St. Mary after trans­fer­ring from a school in Park City, Utah.

The se­nior star has signed with Coastal Carolina Uni­ver­sity in Con­way, S.C. to play lacrosse.

Cam­bria pitches Hon­ors to Cor­nell Cup I vic­tory

City Hon­ors, which swept through last year’s Cor­nell Cup League I sched­ule with an 11-0 record, is off to a 2-0 start for the new cam­paign.
