Flee­ing shoplifter drops back­pack with an I.D. in it

Town of Ni­a­gara Po­lice re­ported that they have ten­ta­tively iden­ti­fied a shoplifter whose iden­ti­fi­ca­tion card was found in a back­pack he dropped while flee­ing from the scene of a crime.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, the man shoved $158 worth of meat, seafood and dairy prod­ucts into his back­pack April 4 in Weg­mans on Mil­i­tary Road be­fore leav­ing the store. Con­fronted out­side, he dropped the back­pack and fled on foot, last be­ing seen in the vicin­ity of 80th Street and Ni­a­gara Falls Boule­vard.

Po­lice re­cov­ered the stolen prop­erty along with an I.D. card in­side the dis­carded back­pack. Af­ter check­ing the name on the card against Ni­a­gara Falls po­lice mug shots, they ten­ta­tively iden­ti­fied the sus­pect and have is­sued a warrant for his ar­rest.
