Owings girl reportedly killed
Police say missing teen was found dead in Baltimore in apparent homicide case
Police report a missing 18-year-old girl from Owings was found dead Thursday in an apparent homicide in Baltimore.
Both Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the incident. According to a police news release, both departments responded to a call for a deceased female at 9:21 a.m. Sept. 27 in the area of the 100 block of Riverside Road. The victim, identified the following day as Danielle Valerie Gunson of Calvert County, reportedly suffered trauma to her torso.
Gunson had been reported missing to Anne Arundel police Thursday and was believed to have possibly been in Anne Arundel at the time of her disappearance, according to the release. On Sept. 28, Baltimore City Homicide Unit positively identified the River- side Road victim as Gunson.
“This investigation is very fluid and active but the information developed indicates this was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence,” police report.
On Monday, spokespeople for both police agencies declined to comment further on the case, but Marc Limansky with Anne Arundel County Police said an update would be made available in the coming days after it is determined whether the victim died in
Anne Arundel or in Baltimore where her body was found.
A GoFundMe.com account was started for Gunson’s family at www. gofundme. com/ danielle-gun-sons-memorial. The page, run by Brianna Gunson, the victim’s sister, is for funeral costs and also states that the family lost Danielle Gunson’s older brother, Shane, four years ago.
She “had so much life to live and it was stolen from her so unexpectedly,” the fundraiser page states, “… this is very heartbreaking to our family and having a mother bury another child so soon.”
Brianna Gunson told The Calvert Recorder on Sunday that her sister will be remembered as a sweet, kindhearted girl who was quiet and intelligent.
“She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters, she enjoyed taking runs and reading books,” Brianna said, adding that her hobbies included cheerleading as a child and volleyball. “She had her whole life ahead of her.”
Brianna said growing up, the two of them shared a room and their birthdays were only a couple days apart.
“We shared many laughs and cries together,” she said of Danielle. “She will never be forgotten.”
