Win­ter shel­ter for the home­less avail­able in the tri-county area

The three South­ern Mary­land coun­ties each have a pro­gram for peo­ple who are home­less to spend win­ter nights. All three pro­grams re­quire par­tic­i­pants to be home­less to qual­ify.

• In Calvert County, Safe Nights has started to pro­vide win­ter shel­ter for county res­i­dents. The pro­gram is ex­pected to run for about 20 weeks. Call Safe Nights of Calvert County at 443-486-8670 or email calvert­[email protected] for more in­for­ma­tion. Walk-ins are not ac­cepted.

• In St. Mary’s County, the Wrap­ping Arms ‘Round Many pro­gram, known as WARM, started ear­lier this month. Peo­ple can drop by or call the De­part­ment of So­cial Ser­vices in St. Mary’s at 240-895-7000 to be re­ferred to the pro­gram.
