There are ap­prox­i­mately 86 mil­lion Amer­i­cans who have pre-di­a­betes and are at risk for de­vel­op­ing Type II di­a­betes. Nearly 10 per­cent of our pop­u­la­tion, 30 mil­lion peo­ple, are liv­ing with Type II di­a­betes. Did you know that di­a­betes is the lead­ing risk for kid­ney fail­ure? Di­a­betes dou­bles a per­son’s risk for heart at­tacks and is the lead- ing cause of new cases of blind­ness in work­ing adults.

The Calvert County Health Depart­ment of­fers a va­ri­ety of free classes and ser­vices to pro­vide you with the tools needed to ed­u­cate you about pre-di­a­betes, di­a­betes, and di­a­betes pre­ven­tion.
