Learn more about diabetes and how to prevent it
There are approximately 86 million Americans who have pre-diabetes and are at risk for developing Type II diabetes. Nearly 10 percent of our population, 30 million people, are living with Type II diabetes. Did you know that diabetes is the leading risk for kidney failure? Diabetes doubles a person’s risk for heart attacks and is the lead- ing cause of new cases of blindness in working adults.
The Calvert County Health Department offers a variety of free classes and services to provide you with the tools needed to educate you about pre-diabetes, diabetes, and diabetes prevention. The next Living Well with Diabetes day class will begin on Jan. 2. The Next Living Well with Diabetes evening class will begin on Jan. 3.
