Woman jumps from pier, rescued
A woman was unhurt Tuesday after police rescued her from the water off the pier by the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge in Solomons.
Sheriff Mike Evans (R) said Wednesday morning the woman was in distress and jumped into the water from the pier. She was not drowning when police rescued her, Evans said.
Capt. David Payne, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said the woman, who is in her 20s, was pulled up by police in less than a minute and taken ashore on a boat. The temperature in the water was about 36 degrees, he said.
