Stormwater forum focuses on Mayo peninsula

The Anne Arundel County Watershed StewardsAc­ademy is offering an overview of strategies Mayo peninsula homeowners can employ to help reduce polluted runoff fromtheir property.

TheWatersh­ed Stewards Academy presents “Stormwater and You” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Edgewater Community Library.

The presentati­on is a collaborat­ion with neighbors of the Mayo peninsula and the county Watershed Stewards Academy. Charlotte Shearin, regional program chief of the Maryland Critical Area Commission, will be on hand to “explore the unique aspects ofMayo’s land use and natural treasures,” according to a news release.

The session is open to county resident but will focus especially on the unique aspects of the Mayo area. Attendees will also have an opportunit­y to learn about the Master Watershed Steward certificat­ion course beginning this fall.
