Wild helps Severn beat Roland Park in field hockey

Libby Wild scored on a penalty stroke and assisted on another goal to lead Severn to a 3-1 victory over Roland Park on Tuesday in field hockey.

Hailey Schendel and Abi Poindexter also scored and Ally Dixon had an assist for the Admirals. Jillian North had 13 saves for Severn (2-2).

MEADE 4, HAMMOND 2: Kylie McGinniss had two goals and an assist, while Stephanie Rojas and Taylor Chaney each scored a goal as the Mustangs got their first win of the season by defeating the Golden Bears.

Maggie Taylan and Payton McVey each recorded an assist and Salma Santiago made 12 saves, including a penalty stroke, to earn her first varsity win in goal for Meade (1-2).

MOUNT DE SALES 4, AACS 2: McKenna Steinau and Sydney White each posted a goal and Taylor Cho recorded an assist, but the Eagles (2-2) fell to the Sailors. Other score

SEVERN, ROCKBRIDGE PREVAIL: Robert Dubinski of the Admirals took first in the boys meet in 18:14, while Natalie Watson placed second for the Scots, running a 23:58 on the girls side, to earn their teams wins in a meet on Tuesday.

Severn’s Benjamin Taczak took second in 18:35, Rockbridge’s Ben Geverdt was third with a 19:21, David Seidl took fourth for the Admirals with a 19:34, teammate Daniel Babalola was fifth in 19:37, Gabe Graham placed sixth for the Scots with a time of 19:38, teammate Ryan McDowell was seventh in 19:50, with the Severn trio of Eric Wisnom (20:11), Evan Gore (20:17) and Julien Meyer (20:20) rounding out the top 10.

After Watson, Rockbridge had the next eight finishers (only five score in the team results), as Emma Williams (third, 24:17), Noelle McDowell (fourth, 24:54), Sydney Hudson (fifth, 25:1 9), Lauren Bailey (sixth, 25:22), Hannah Skwarek (seventh, 25:26), Elizabeth Ball (eighth, 26:01) and Rylee Roberts (ninth, 26:06) all finished in the top 10. Severn’s Caroline Krall finished 10th in 26:14.

Volleyball

ST. MARY’S 3, CHAPELGATE 1: Sydney Heatley had 26 assists, five kills and three aces, while Olivia Colella added 12 kills, as the Saints defeated the Yellow Jackets, 25-16, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18.

Alli Cherry contribute­d seven kills, six digs and two aces, Liz Harris had seven kills, five aces and three digs, Karry Kelliher pitched in with four kills and two aces and Marielle McAteer went 7 for 9 serving with four digs for St. Mary’s (4-1). KENT ISLAND 3, NORTH CAROLINE 0:

Desiree Hanks recorded 23 digs and Mia Calzada added another 13 digs as the Buccaneers swept the Bulldogs, 25-14, 25-16, 25-18.

Lily Golembeski served eight aces for Kent Island (2-2). ARUNDEL 3, MOUNT HEBRON 2:

Brooke Watts led the Wildcats with 13 kills, while Mackenzie Meehan had 11 kills and four aces in Monday’s win, 25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-11. Nelle Smith had six kills and six blocks and Abby Niles had 31 assists and 15 digs for Arundel.

Golf

WELLS, FALCONS PREVAIL: Addison Wells shot a one-over par 36 to lead Severna Park to a four-shot win over Broadneck in an A Division match at Eisenhower Golf Course.

Severna Park finished with a team score of 170 with Andrew DeLaere at 43, Pete Regala at 44 and Liam Mahoney at 47.

Broadneck had a 174 and third-place South River teamed for 175. Chesapeake finished last with 192.

Jake Pullin of Chesapeake finished second in the individual scoring with a 39, followed by South River’s Joe Fidyk’s 41. Broadneck’s Colin Bright and Mason Jones tied for fourth at 42.
