COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said junior DE Nick Bosa will be out indefinite­ly after having surgery on a “core muscle.” The AllAmerica­n suffered an abdominal injury during last weekend's game against Tulane. Meyer said there's no timetable yet for Bosa's return . ... California coach Justin Wilcox announded Wednesday that sophomore LB Cameron Goode will miss the rest of the season with a lower-body injury. Goode suffered the injury in Cal's season opener and didn't play in the next two games. Cal plans to apply for a sixth year of eligibilit­y for Goode, who should be fully recovered for spring practice in 2019 . ... Miami coach Mark Richt announced that senior S Jaquan Johnson and junior WR Ahmmon Richards will miss the 21stranked Hurricanes' game against FIU on Saturday. Johnson injured his hamstring against Toledo last weekend, while Richards injured his knee in the season opener against LSU and will sit out his third straight game . ... Former Minnesota OL Nick Connelly died Wednesday, four months after he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was 22. Connelly started the first five games of 2017 for the Gophers before retiring because of concussion­s.

GOLF: Tiger Woods made an eagle putt from just over 25 feet on the par-5 18th hole for a 5-under 65 and a share of the lead with Rickie Fowler after the opening round of the Tour Championsh­ip in Atlanta. World No. 1 Justin Rose and Gary Woodland both shot 66 . ... Lucas Herbert of Australia fired a first-round 8-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead at the European Tour's Portugal Masters in Vilamoura. NBA: All-Star G Jimmy Butler would prefer a trade to the Clippers, ESPN reported. Butler, 29, asked the Timberwolv­es to trade him before the team's media day Monday.
