Long time Annapolis resident Ruth D. Post, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on November 7, 2018 after a battle with breast cancer.

Ruth was born in Philadelph­ia to Lawrence and Stella Dippell on February 26, 1927. She married John S. Post on July 7, 1945 in Tiffin, OH. John’s job in the Navy took them to Annapolis, Maryland. In addition to raising 5 children, Ruth worked as a bank teller for Farmers National Bank in downtown Annapolis for 22 years. Ruth and John were active members of the Annapolis Couples Club. They loved camping, traveling and were enthusiast­ic square dancers who once danced down the aisle on a flight to Hawaii. Ruth was an avid reader, painter and bridge player.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John, her daughter, Jan Post Montgomery and her granddaugh­ter Vanessa Post Simms.

Ruth is survived by her only sister, Grace Dippell Miley of Holland, OH, her children, John S. Post Jr (Gretchen), Susan F. Beasley (Buddy), Carol A. Collison (Jim), Grace E. Fishback (Jim), sixteen grandchild­ren and twenty-five great grandchild­ren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Nov. 17 at Bay Ridge Christian Church, 1071 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis, MD 21403. Internment will be private. Arrangemen­ts are made by John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis.
