Gregory Tetrick

-

Gregory Scott Tetrick, 52, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, due to complications from lung cancer.

He was born on May 21, 1966, the son of Betty Anne Tetrick Newkirk and the late Roger Van Tetrick. He attended Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, Virginia. He worked in the construction field in New Smyrna Florida, until he began working on sailboats as a rigger in Annapolis , his love of sailing in particular—he lived in the Virgin Islands for ¬¬¬¬6 years employed in the marine industry and doing what he loved most. He was employed with Atlantic Spars, Annapolis, Maryland for many years and most recently joined Haven Harbour Marina in Rock Hall, where he became part of their family, as well. He remains incredibly respected in the local marine industry, as he was such a gifted and talented rigging specialist.

An avid outdoorsman, if he wasn’t on a sailboat, working on a sailboat, or in a sailboat race, he was planning for either fishing, crabbing or hunting season. His greatest joys were being out on his boat, crabbing and fishing with Kyle, or out in the woods hunting with Kyle. His grandson, Jaxon, caught his first fish with his “Grampy”. He also enjoyed golfing with his brother Jeff. Always up for an adventure, Greg loved to travel and was an excellent travel planner. A lifelong Redskins fan, he was a hardcore supporter of his team. He was very gifted in construction as well, and could build, repair or “rig” anything he chose to. Greg loved to cook, and he prided himself on his signature spaghetti sauce. He loved people and made friends no matter where he was or who he met along the way, and people loved him. His light will continue to shine in those who had the absolute blessing to have known and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Linda M. Tetrick, his sons, Kyle Van Tetrick of Arnold, MD and Rob Hall of Easton, MD, his mother, Betty Anne Newkirk of Safety Harbor, FL, grandson, Jaxon, brother, Jeff Tetrick (Jen) of Wilmington, DE, and his nephew, Justin Tetrick. He is also survived by his beloved pets- his rescue cat Tigger and rescue pup Whiskee, as well as a very large extended family and close friends who will so miss his great big beautiful smile, his raucous laughter, outspoken manner and authenticity.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 6 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where friends may call one-hour prior from 5 – 6 PM. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to The Caroline County Humane Society.
