Marianne Josephine Russell Kendrick, died on Sunday, December 9, 2018. She had been a long-time resident of Sherwood Forest, MD until June 2018. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence E. Kendrick. Mother of Robert L. Kendrick, Charlotte, NC: Kathryn K. Jarrett, Discovery Bay, CA; Jonathan R. Kendrick, Annapolis, MD; Sister of John A. Russell Jr., of Matthews, NC; Grandmothe­r of Dane M. Miller, Rockville, MD: Kara Lynne Miller, San Luis Obispo, CA: Josephine E. Byrd Kendrick, Annapolis, MD. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyteri­an Church of Annapolis, 171 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyteri­an Church at the above address, PEO Chapter R of Severna Park, or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 441 Defense Hwy, Annapolis, MD 21401. John M. Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mrs. Kendrick.

Mrs. Kendrick was born June 17, 1932, in Washington, DC to Mr. and Mrs. John A. Russell. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, attended Oberlin College and continued her education with a Master’s degree from Bowie State University. She married Lawrence E. Kendrick on June 21, 1958, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his death in January, 2010.

Marianne worked as a teacher in both Anne Arundel and Montgomery county public schools. She was actively involved in the choir at First Presbyteri­an Church in Annapolis and a previous member of the choir at National Presbyteri­an Church in Washington D.C. She served as President of the PEO Chapter R of Severna Park and was a long time member of the Chevy Chase Women’s Club. Marianne enjoyed sailing with her family on the Severn River, bridge, pottery, knitting, and needlepoin­t. She was a beloved member of The Sherwood Forest Club, where she raised her children and eventually retired. Marianne was a devoted wife and mother, a kind and thoughtful friend, and a caring grandmothe­r.

The family would like to thank her church for the support and visits. The nursing staff of the Anne Arundel Medical Center 6th Floor, along with all the doctors for the care during her illness.
