NAVY WOMEN'S LACROSSE: On the heels of the program's second consecutiv­e appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight, the Navy women's lacrosse team officially announced its 2019 schedule. The Midshipmen play 17 regular season games, including 10 home games. The Midshipmen will play six regular season games against teams that participat­ed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, including the NCAA runner-up.

Navy opens up the season on the road against NCAA tournament participan­t Virginia on Feb. 9 before playing five of the next six game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

On April 13, the Mids will host the Army West Point Black Knights as part of the Army-Navy Star Series. The game, which is part of a doublehead­er with the men's team, will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

NAVY FOOTBALL: Senior linebacker Taylor Heflin and senior safety Sean Williams have been named All-East by the ECAC. Junior quarterbac­k/slot back Malcolm Perry was named Honorable Mention.

Heflin led the Mids with 107 tackles and 11.5 tackles for a loss and was second on the team in sacks with three. Williams was third on the team in tackles with 85, was second on the team in intercepti­ons with two, was second on the team in pass breakups with five and led the nation in forced fumbles with five. Perry became just the fifth player in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons as he rushed for 1,087 yards and seven touchdowns on 172 carries (6.3 yards per carry). Perry was also third on the team in receiving with nine catches for 167 yards and a touchdown. BOWIE STATE FOOTBALL: Ferris State junior quarterbac­k Jayru Campbell has been awarded the 2018 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year. Bowie State senior quarterbac­k Amir Hall placed fourth among the nine finalists. Hall, received 78 total points in the final tally, earning 12 first place votes, 16 second place votes and 10 third place votes.
