Burrows, Fitzwater pace South River

Ashlynn Burrows posted a game-high 15 points and Julia Fitzwater added 10 as the South River girls basketball team defeated Broadneck, 50-36, on Friday night.

Kathleen Sullivan contribute­d nine points for South River (2-0).

Ty Washington scored 11 points and Nicole Hagopian netted seven points for Broadneck (1-2).

Julia Ryan had 19 points and seven rebounds and Lena McLaughlin grabbed 10 boards for the Falcons. Hailey Betch added seven points and five rebounds for Severna Park (3-0). Arianna Harmon led Arundel (3-1) with 10 points.

SEVERNA PARK 45, ARUNDEL 33: CHESAPEAKE 70, GLEN BURNIE 34:

Haley Downin scored 20 points and Mya Hamstra tallied 14 as the Cougars handled the Gophers.

Corinne Castle chipped in with 12 points and Morgan Gray provided 10 points for Chesapeake (4-0).

Jahye Brown netted 17 points and Jordan Fangman chipped in with 10 points for Glen Burnie (0-3).

SOUTHERN 48, ANNAPOLIS 46:

Myranda Hopkins made two free throws in the final seconds to hand the Bulldogs their first win. Hopkins led Southern with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, Elyse Finnelle added 12 points and eight rebounds and Jessica Chaney chipped in with 10 points for Southern (1-2).

INDIAN CREEK 50, CATHOLIC 24:

Maddy Evans recorded 22 points to surpass the 1,000-point plateau for her career as the Eagles defeated the Cubs.

Megan Bunker scored 12 points for Indian Creek (6-1).

GLENELG COUNTRY 53, ST. MARY’S 36:

Karry Kelliher had 12 points and eight rebounds and Claire Richardson pitched in with nine points and five rebounds, but the Saints fell to the Dragons. Maggie Aumiller recorded six points and 10 rebounds for St. Mary’s (4-3).

Mehki Simmons tallied 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Gophers to the win over the Cougars.

Dominick Williams added 17 points and eight rebounds for Glen Burnie (3-1).

Russell Tounge had 12 points for Chesapeake (2-1).

Che Colbert led the Bruins with 14 points while Mike Cantrell added 13 points, seven steals and four assists. Nick Gatton supplied 12 points and 10 rebounds for Broadneck (4-0).

Eric Sondberg scored 11 points to lead South River (0-2).

BROADNECK 60, SOUTH RIVER 43:

Senior Avion Robinson amassed 36 points for the Patriots — including a 13-point third quarter — in the win over the Mustangs. Old Mill improved to 3-0.

OLD MILL 73, MEADE 74: GERSTELL ACADEMY 74, INDIAN CREEK 61:

Khiyon Washington had 26 points and five assists and Khalil Williams added 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in the Eagles (4-3) loss.

Tyson Brooks Jr. had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Ian Hogan followed with 12 points and Deon Hebron added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (1-1) in Thursday’s win.
