Senior residences
I think Fred Weingarten (The Capital,
Jan. 8) may have misinterpreted the intent of Anne Parker's letter (The Capital, Jan. 5).
Like others before her, Parker enumerated all the reasons the Village at Providence Point does not belong “in this area,” i.e. Forest Drive. I doubt she harbors “negative prejudices against seniors” when she suggests senior retirement communities should be “tucked away” like Ginger Cove and Bay Woods.
Just because these communities are “tucked away” does not mean the residents have to be. Residents of these communities enjoy all the same activities and resources of downtown Annapolis that the Weingartens enjoy.
These people are not hostages in their homes. I will bet that many have managed to find downtown Annapolis all by themselves and without the inconvenience Weingarten imagines.
And Parker is right. The Village at Providence Point does not belong “in this area.”
