A New Year is a new be­gin­ning for many of us.

De­spite the hor­rific events at The Cap­i­tal last year when a crazed gun­man with a vendetta shot and killed five, the re­main­ing grief-stricken staff kept the pa­per go­ing. They never gave up and moved on.

In this great coun­try of ours, we all have rights. Rights come with re­spon­si­bil­i­ties — to use com­mon sense, and give hon­est feed­back. Many just don't get it.

felt a re­spon­si­bil­ity to their com­mu­nity by forg­ing ahead, and that's what we all need to do. Those who are dis­ap­pointed with some of last year's events, deal with it and move on. JOYCE MASTERSON An­napo­lis
