NAVY WRESTLING: The Mids (3-1, 2-0 EIWA) won seven matches, including three by fall, to secure a 30-12 victory over Hofstra (1-6, 0-2 EIWA) Sunday evening at Alumni Hall. The Mids dropped the first match of the dual, but won six straight to take a 24-3 lead and never looked back.

Three of Navy's seven victories were by fall — Spencer Carey at 174, Joshua Roetman at 197 and Casey Cobb at 133. A

Roetman, a junior, pushed his dual record to 4-0 this season after pinning (3:48) Hofstra senior Nezar Haddad. Roetman is the only wrestler on the Navy roster to win all four duals this season. While Roeman is 4-0, senior heavyweigh­t Thomas Ott is now 3-0 after capturing a 3-2 victory over Omar Haddad.

MARYLAND ATHLETICS: Johnny Holliday was voted the 2018 Maryland Sportscast­er of the Year, as announced Monday by the National Sports Media Associatio­n.

It marks Holliday's second time earning the honor for the state of Maryland. Holliday is currently in his 40th season as the play-by-play voice of the University of Maryland's football and men's basketball teams. He was also the pre- and post-game television host for Washington Nationals' games on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.

MARYLAND FIELD HOCKEY: Katie Bam has been promoted to associate head coach of the Maryland field hockey team, head coach Missy Meharg announced Monday. Bam, a two-time Olympian, played for the Terrapins from 2007 through 2010, spent the 2012 season with the program as a student assistant coach, then rejoined the staff as assistant coach for the last two years.

MARYLAND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Freshmen Shakira Austin and Taylor Mikesell of the ninth-ranked Terps both picked up weekly honors from the Big Ten, after leading Maryland (15-1, 4-1 B1G) to a pair of wins in league play this week. Austin earned her fifth Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor and Mikesell was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll.

MARYLAND MEN’S BASKETBALL: Sophomore Bruno Fernando of the newly minted No. 19 Maryland men's basketball team has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the Big Ten Conference.

The Terrapins are back in the Associated Press rankings for the third week this season, and first since being ranked 23rd on Dec. 3. It also marks Maryland's first visit to the top-20 since being ranked 17th on Jan. 30, 2017.
