-

Brad Marchand had two goals and an assist as the Bruins beat the Maple Leafs 4-2 on Sunday in Toronto, forcing a Game 7 in the first-round playoff series.

Torey Krug and Jake DeBrusk also scored, and David Pastrnak had two assists to help the Bruins avoid elimination. Tuukka Rask stopped 22 shots.

The Bruins host the deciding game Tuesday.

Morgan Rielly and Auston Matthews scored for the Leafs in a series neither team has managed back-to-back victories and each haswon twice on the road. Frederik Andersen finished with 37 saves.

The Leafs, who lost to the Bruins in seven in both 2013 and 2018, haven’t advanced to the second round since 2004.

The winner of this series will take on the Blue Jackets, who got the Eastern Conference’s last wild card and then swept a Lightning team that tied an NHL record with 62 victories in the regular season.

The Leafs are Canada’s last hope of ending the country’s 26-year Stanley Cup drought.

Oshie has surgery:

Winger T.J. Oshie underwent surgery for a broken collarbone, the Capitals announced.

Oshie suffered the injury when he was pushed into the boards by the Hurricanes’ Warren Foegele during the third period of Game 4 on Thursday. Oshie missed Game 5 on Saturday, and The Washington Post reported that he’s almost certain to miss the rest of the playoffs.

Svechnikov return?

Hurricanes rookie Andrei Svechnikov hopes to play in Game 6 against the Capitals on Monday after suffering a concussion in a fight with Alex Ovechkin a week earlier.

Svechnikov took part in his first full team practice Saturday before the Hurricanes’ Game 5 loss. The 19-year-old Russian winger wore a yellow noncontact jersey and would need to clear the NHL’s concussion protocol before he returns to game action.

Ovechkin knocked out Svechnikov with a right hook during a fight in the first period of Game 3. Both players have said the other asked to fight.
