Globalism

- ANNE RUTHERFORD Severna Park

Nick Berry’s analysis of the end of the cold war clashes. If no one was worried about the threat of WWIII, why did there have to be a treaty on the Iran nuclear program? Perhaps the Soviets were no longer a threat, but others filled in the blanks.

And he says globalism emerged triumphantly but failed to mention how a very large part of our manufacturing jobs left our country going to other countries. Jobs create wealth and the United States lost a lot of wealth while other countries gained wealth. Globalism is a fine concept as long as you don’t hurt yourself. And I have never figured out why China was given favorite Nation trade status. They made lots and lots of money while keeping their extreme communism.

He claims the world became too big, complex and less American and it was run by moneyed elites with their partners in politics, media, government and corporations. Let’s break that down.

Politicians were/are selling, “What services can I get for you”. It’s all about the free stuff. And of course they need immigrants to do jobs “Americans” won’t do because we are paying Americans not to work. Do you think the working people of America miss the fact they are paying taxes so politicians can divvy it out to gain votes?

The Affordable Care Act was supposed to lower our premiums because they were going to make everyone pay into the system. But at the same time, they covered people who could not pay, they covered children to the age of 26 and they covered preexisting conditions. Now the people who are working are paying those that are not working for their food, housing, phones and healthcare. I say healthcare was the straw that broke the camel’s back. And, oh by the way, healthcare premiums went up.

Your democratic Presidential candidates do nothing to cure the angst and anger for needed reforms. They tout socialism with pride. At least Beto figured out confiscating legal firearms from lawabiding citizens was not as popular as he thought. The best they can come up with is socialized medicine and charging every American for college tuition for kids who took a degree that they now cannot get a job in.
