Sid Saab
I’m writing this as an open letter to Del. Sid Saab. Del. Saab, we’ve had multiple conversations on Facebook over the past few days on your continued insistence on using state-level COVID-19 hospitalization rates to convince your constituents that the county should hasten the steps to reopen, refusing to acknowledge and spread county-level data.
The first time you did this, I asked you for county-level statistics, which you said weren’t available. The next day, I provided you with a link for the county-level statistics and provided you with instructions for finding the data and you denied saying the county wasn’t providing the data.
The next day, you continued to post the state-level data with no comment of how the county-level data differed; when I reminded you of the county-level data and how it tells a different story than the state-level data, you said you couldn’t find the data.
As one of your constituents, I’d like to see you acknowledge and source all of the available data when crafting your policy suggestions. I’d also like to see you working with your peers instead of stoking anger at them. Your behavior right now isn’t helping to lead us on a unified path to both health and financial recovery; instead, it’s causing unnecessary divisions between neighbors who probably have the same long-term goals in mind.
As a state delegate, you do have a larger voice; please use that voice to spread accurate information and ease people’s pain instead of adding to it. JENNIFER SELL Severna Park
