Henson opens up about lying to son
Onher podcast, Taraji P. Henson recalled the tough time she experienced telling her son that his father was murdered.
The actor, 50, opened up inWednesday’s episode of “Peace of MindWith Taraji” about the difficult decision she faced upon learning that her former boyfriend, William Johnson, was killed.
“My son’s fatherwas suddenly taken, murdered, when hewas 9, and I didn’t knowhowto tell him that,” Henson said. “I couldn’t tell him hewas murdered.”
Johnsonwas 33 when hewas stabbed to death on Jan. 26, 2003.
The Oscar- nominated, Golden GlobeAwardwinning actor confessed to being unable to tell her child, Marcel, the truth. Instead, she lied and said his father “died in an accident.” Marcel, now26, eventually learned what happened and confronted his mother.
“Later on in life, he found out, and he came back tomeandwas like, ‘ Why didn’t you tellme my daddywas murdered?’ And so thenwe had to get therapy,” Henson said.
