Recruiting campaign

-

Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County will launch an employee recruiting campaign Monday, hoping to draw employees back to area hospitality employers.

The campaign, conducted in cooperation with Anne Arundel Workforce Development through digital advertising, social media and radio, will encourage potential or former employees to “apply now” and direct them to a new jobs board on the Visit Annapolis website.

“We want to do what we can to help ensure our hospitality businesses will have the staffing they need to help drive and reap the benefits of the economic recovery and ensure an exceptional visitor experience,” said Kristen Pironis, executive director of Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

After layoffs in restaurants, hotels and other tourism and hospitality businesses last year, many hospitality businesses in the county are short-staffed, a spokesperson for the two groups said.

The campaign will culminate in two virtual job events in June promoting jobs in the field and connecting potential workers with businesses ramping up now that state and local COVID19 restrictions have eased.

Visit Annapolis is working with Anne Arundel Workforce Development on the employment campaign.

The two groups will host a virtual information session at 10 a.m. on June 8 to promote hospitality jobs. Speakers include Pironis; staff members from Workforce Development; BWI Arundel Mills Hospitality Alliance President Ray Cajudoy; and David Ludwig from the Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute at Anne Arundel Community College.

The session will provide an introduction to the travel and tourism industry, an overview of Workforce Development services and advice on changing careers. Individuals interested in attending the information session and hiring event can sign up on the job board.

On June 10, a virtual job fair will give employers the chance to post a company biography, job openings and descriptions, and their federal employer identification number in virtual booths. Businesses can provide up to four links to their social media channels and websites. On the day of the event, recruiters will have the ability to welcome job candidates to their site for one-on-one meetings in a video chat format.

The campaign will run through June 11.
