John Samuel Revelle, Jr., longtime resident of Baltimore City and Annapolis, MD, retired insurance executive and investment property owner, died January 21, 2022 at home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was 77.

Born in Baltimore December 25, 1944 to John S. and Emma Bird Revelle, he was raised in the Tuscany-Canterbury neighborho­od. He graduated from The McDonogh School which he attended for 12 years and was the recipient of the McCormick Unsung Hero Award. He completed his degree at University of Baltimore and was a member

of the Maryland Air National Guard.

Mr. Revelle’s profession­al life spanned 40 years in the Life and Health Insurance industry most notably as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Monumental General Insurance Group (AEGON) of Baltimore and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity Security Life Insurance Co. in Kansas City, MO. He returned to Baltimore to create and run his own company, Coastline Capital and Property Management, Inc. which he actively built until his retirement to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. in 2017. He particular­ly enjoyed entertaini­ng clients, family and friends at his favorite Baltimore establishm­ents: Marconi’s, Danny’s, The Prime Rib and The Maryland Club.

As a young man, Mr. Revelle enjoyed sports as well as fishing and boating in and around the Chesapeake. His love of the bay grew through the years and he could often be found aboard his Chesapeake 46 Fly Bridge Cruising Yacht, Coastal Starr. He also enjoyed spending time at the Annapolis Yacht Club, where he was a member for 40 years.

During his 15-year residence in Annapolis, he oversaw the restoratio­n of a Federal Period family home located in the historic district. Throughout his life, Mr. Revelle was exposed to family history and genealogy. He researched and documented multiple lines of his family and worked to put it in proper format for future generation­s.

Mr. Revelle is survived by his longtime companion and life partner, Karen Compton, his children, Cathleen Bird Revelle of Annapolis, MD and John S. Revelle III of Charleston, SC, two grandchild­ren, his nieces, numerous cousins and former spouse Marilynn MorrisReve­lle.

Mr. Revelle will be honored at a graveside service in the spring, at Green Mount Cemetery in Baltimore.
