Mall businesses need to be supported

-

Since its establishment, in 1980, the Westfield Annapolis Mall has been an important part of local culture. With online shopping at an all time high, mall-goers don’t find themselves frequenting the mall as often as they once did, if at all. Many people, myself included, have noticed the increase of vacant spots in the mall where businesses once stood.

I believe it is important to keep the mall going and to support the businesses there, especially new ones. In an effort to try new food and to show support I visited the relatively new CrunCheese Korean Hotdogs, in the mall’s food court.

I am far from a food critic, but I do represent a major demographic of the mall: teenagers who can’t drive. The two items I ordered were the Potato Hotdog and the All Mozzarella. The Potato Hotdog consists of a fried corn dog with big potato chunks on the outside, and the All Mozzarella contains mozzarella with an outer fried corn dog shell.

I enjoyed CrunCheese and will definitely keep it in my rotation as a special treat while at the mall. I am glad I tried something new. I would highly recommend it and even go as far as to say it is now an essential part of the Annapolis Mall experience. CrunCheese provides a direct and local way to experience Korean culture, which we are fortunate to have so close to us; many places in America don’t. CrunCheese is just one example of the new establishments in the mall, founded with optimism and worthy of our support. It is important as ever to support not only the current, but the new businesses in the mall.
